  • Counterintuitively, ms phones good reviews were also a good reason for ms to kill it. By the time ms got moving with phones, they were way behind and the market was already consolidating. They had a lot of inertia to overcome. They dumped tons of money into phones, exercised the famous ms marketing arm twisted, pulled out all of their usual tricks … and no one bought them. They ended up with phones that people liked, that got excellent reviews … and no one bought them. Even worse, phones were being sold on the strength of their app stores, and despite sinking tons more money persuading developers to port apps to windows phones, they could never get the critical mass of a sustaining ecosystem. It was pretty clear that even ms would not be able to overcome the consolidation of the market into only two

  • For sure, coal fired generators should be treated as an emergency. They’re slowly going away (in the US)/but our environment can’t take the pace. We need to treat this a lot more urgently, get totally off coal asap. I bet we could do it in only a couple years of emergency action.

I believe it’s mostly two states, and West Virginia always needs an investment

…. But they’re probably not thinking of it that way

    • “millions and millions” is total bs
    • technically they’re probably not. It looks like they have a bunch of new unqualified people and set impossible quotas.

While I would never have sympathy for any officers knowingly complying with illegal orders, it also fits with the current administration that management is by bullying, threats, impossible demands, and no concern for correctness until a scapegoat is needed

  • We’re already expecting the spite, personal attacks … even smaller places. My town is still pissed off from the last few weeks

    • masked thugs kidnapped a guy off the street and left his kid abandoned on the sidewalk (neighbors got him home)
    • other masked thugs roughed up and arrested a city councilor exercising his right to take videos from an appropriate distance
  • For me also, only iPad, not iPhone 15 pro.

    • Relative new M1 iPad Air
    • Some screen damage but no visible impact on video
    • only 1/3 storage used
    • solid networking
    • private relay

Admittedly it’s been a while since I rebooted, or restarted Safari

    Symptoms

    • Lemmy UI glitchy, occasionally an empty template with no content. Sometimes links to a previous story instead of the expected ones
    • occasional Lemmy screen freezes
    • YouTube crashes, sometimes video cuts out and continues with audio only.

These are my most frequently used sites on this iPad, so I don’t know if they’re really connected or just the odds make them look that way

  • That’s your Mel planning, although I’d eat celery by itself.

For example I just bought a bunch of fresh dill because I needs it for one recipe. However I found a side dish that also used dill. Then the next morning I made bagels and lox with fresh dill, and successfully used it up.

I have a harder time with spices and sauces: so many sitting on my counter because they don’t fit in the spice cupboard. However at least they last a bit, giving me more chances to finish them

  • My ex wanted literally corn syrup. Not even corn syrup based pancake strip, but literal corn syrup.

We were the insane family requiring 3 syrups

    1. Maple syrup fir me
    2. Corn syrup for her
    3. Aunt Jemmima for the kids

  • While I don’t know your situation, this is fairly common in new drivers. For most of us, experience gets us past the issue. Experience to make driving habits automatic rather than something we need to be anxious about. I watched both of my teens get much better at this over time, but I’m still very anxious about them.

  • The first episode was definitely questionable but once the season got the family out of the way, the fan service out of the way, and focussed on Wednesday, it was much better.

It was definitely a good idea to focus on the one character independent of the family, to avoid conflicts with the original show

  • Yes, very cringey slang for going without protection. Originally from pregnancy or STDs, but now also from boredom. In my case, without the protection of a mask or leaving my wallet and phone at home. I even drove and parked in a local public garage, so would be traceable in several different ways
