I emailed them today. It is clear that the "free" platforms they rely on are now openly hostile to them and their users. We need to put public services back onto public infrastructure

I shared this article with my family and the response was "well it's depressing and sucks, but we have no choice"... basically big tech has convinced them all to capitulate already

Defeatist attitude is bullshit. Little steps like EU pushing right to repair and forcing apple to adopt usb-c and stop creating e-waste give me hope....

I dunno how you feel over there in europe. Seems like EU is trying to do the right thing sometimes whereas over here the gov't doesnt bother to try and hide the fact that they are fully in bed with big tech and helping to move us along to technofeudalism as quickly as possible

I'm very comfortable with the command line, but ffmpeg is something i really need a gui for...

I only use it a few times a year so there's no way i'm going to memorize any of the options and in what order they need to go.

I've never felt more stupid in my life, but i only just realized that the "AC unit" in my condo can also heat in the winter

I also have electric baseboard heaters. Which is more efficient? The heat pump? Or the baseboard heaters? I'm going to try using the heat pump this winter

What i dont understand is all my single/childless friends are biking to work and doing all the "environmentally friendly" things we're supposed to do (whether it's effective or just stoking our own egos is up for debate)

i used to screw around with custom ROMs all the time. mostly AOKP and cyanogenmod... but then phones started getting picky about rooting... things like camera stopped working or not working to full capabilities...

also i was installIing "[NEWEST SHINY] KERNEL 4.1.1 (L33T SCHEDULER, FASTEST PERFORMANCE!!!111)" like every week, but that got really tiring.

edit: i just noticed AOKP is dead... so sad. anyone know what happened?

Not sure if you were only looking for debian specific posts, but most arch or ubuntu tutorials work just fine most of the time.
