The thing is, these numbers are unfathomable to most people.
If you say, "government gave $30B in subsidies to car companies", most people will stare at you blankly and shrug...
But people will get really angry if they see a headline like, "man commits $5000 of welfare fraud", or "goverment spent $100 000 housing 5 refugee families" because those are real numbers to them.
I've had this problem for years. I contributed to one of the existing bug reports for kscreen on this.
If i dont login to kde (sddm login screen), the screens will shut off normally... But once i login, the problem starts. So i concluded the problem is with kscreen2. I even tested by killijg kscreen2 and the problem goes away
I know lemmy has a gigantic hate boner for LLMs, but if you plugged this scenario into a good one (probably not the bog standard "free" chatgpt in bing) you'll probably get a very entertaining conversation.
My bank used to complain that my browser was out of date. I wrote an email to customer service explaining to them that:
A) debian's "out of date" browser actually includes all up to date security patches.
B) simply reading the browser agent isnt really security. I had simply been spoofing my browser agent to get around their silly browser "security" policy
They removed the browser check 2 weeks later. Not sure if it was because of me
Unfortunately, its their platform and their rules.... And not even rules.... Their whims.
I dont know why people expect corporations to support anything other than profit. You want free speech? For-profit, non-free platforms aren't the place to do it
Whats my next move when my chromecast audio dies? I love that thing
