  • This is exactly how we use LLMs at work... LLM is trained on our work data so it can answer questions about meeting notes from 5 years ago or something. There are a few geniunely helpful use cases like this amongst a sea of hype and mania. I wish lemmy would understand this instead of having just a blanket policy of hate on everything AI

the spotify thing is so stupid... There is simply no use case here for AI. Just spit back some numbers from my listening history like in the past. No need to have AI commentary and hallucination

The even more infuriating part of all this is that i can think of ways that AI/ML (not necesarily LLMs) could actually be really useful for spotify. Like tagging genres, styles, instruments, etc.... "Spotify, find me all songs by X with Y instrument in them..."

  • *22:38 - Incident declared based on monitoring and customer reports of our Cloud Control Panel not loading. *22:44 - Issue detected by an internal alert

Their internal detection system was 6mins slower than customer reporting.... 6 mins is an eternity for this kind of thing

  • I gave up trying to save things where i wanted and just let word/excel/ppt save them to onedrive

It's just my work computer. I have no energy to fight with microsoft at work

I just go home to my warm comfy linux boxes when i get home

  • Condo fees in toronto are absolutely insane. More than my whole mortgage in many cases. No pool, no facilitirs, no concierge and yet somehow condo fee still $500+, i dont get it.

My condo fees in montreal are mostly reasonable.

  • 22 minutes pointed out that the conservatives pitched this idea years ago with erin o'toole....

"Its a good idea when we say it! Bad idea if trudeau does it"

For the record, i think it's a shameless PR stunt and i dont like it, regardless of which party proposes or backs it....

  • It's clearly not as established as you think.... The goalposts keep moving. here are some (un)welcome changes i've noticed in my lifetime...

    • tipping people we didnt used to tip
    • tipping for takeout
    • increase in rate of tip
    • tip calculated AFTER tax

"this is the way it's always been done" is not only a stupid defense, but is totally false in this cse

  • Do you tip your grocery store cashier? Do you tip your baker? Do you tip your mail carrier? Do you tip your garbageman? Do you tip your local librarian? Do you tip your child's teachers (if applicable)? Did you tip your lemmy instance admin? Do you tip your local city councillor?

If not, then you should expect shit tier service from them too

I dont wish you a bad life. I'm just pointing out how bad life would be if everyone had your attitude and work ethic

  • I hope the rest of society gives you lower quality service every day since you're not tipping them... What a shit attitude

Also anyone who claims tipping results in better service has never left north america

I regularly get shit service here and still expected to tip 15%

Service in most of europe is WAY better and there is generally no expectation of a tip

  • With that said shiti parenting is largely result of poor social economic conditions. Even if you want to be a good parent it is very hard to do unless you got economic means AND time.

Have they tried NOT having kids then?
