  • Deus Ex

True about Deus Ex. But then the original was very much an early 2000s PC shooter (which do not work on consoles) and Invisible War was a disappointment.

    Mortal Kombat

The first reboot didn't change the gameplay all that much. It was more of a story-necessity to do a reboot: Armageddon ended with all the fighters dead. Ditto with MK11 but MK1 did change up the gameplay a bit more.

    Mario

Mario? Mario as a franchise never really has been rebooted. Certain genres of Mario have though, like New Super Mario Brothers on DS.

    Sonic

Oh boy...are you talking about 06 or Boom? Actually it doesn't matter... Both are examples of how not to reboot a franchise.

    Tomb Raider

The tomb raider reboots (both of them) do kinda make sense as all three eras are completely different gameplay styles.

Can't comment on NFS, never really paid attention to the franchise.

  • TL;DR:

    1. Misogyny. Inherently hating half the world's population is not going to win you many friends.
    2. prone to violence. Because male-on-female DV isn't bad enough, why not add literal terrorism to the mix?
  • So if we're not talking about ISPs sending this out, then the reason that remote access gets turned on by default is incase the company sysadmin couldn't physically get to the device, and they assumed the company had a firewall.

Companies almost always prioritise OOTB setup and operationality over security when it comes to defaults.

  • Except we've had this kind of brand of plutonium for hundreds of years. The concept of a widely distributed collection of knowledge dates back to the printing press. And believe it or not it was even more filled with utter bullshit than anything today. Remember when we thought diseases were caused by bad smells?

  • Not OP but if I were him/her: Leakage of patient data. Even if OP isn't responsible, simply being tied to an incident like this can look very bad in fields that rely heavily on reputation.

AI models are known to leak this kind of information, there are news articles all over

  • Look to your local health privacy laws. Most countries have that tightly controlled in such a way that this use of AI is illegal.

Your question is not a legal one, but a legal argument can be a very persuasive one.

  • Is a “special election” like what we call a “by election” in the Commonwealth?

    Basically, yes.

The thing with George Santos is that he wasn't kicked out of office by the usual means. He was criminally convicted and then impeached expelled.

So in order to ensure that Santos's constituency is still represented in government, they called an emergency election to pick his replacement. That's what the special election is, and what other places would call a by-election.

If so I don’t know how much to read into this. In Parliamentary systems it’s a well known fact that by elections tend to see a swing against the majority.

While true, this doesn't take into account the nature and publicity of Santos's crimes.

Remember that Santos defrauded and lied to his constituents in such a brazen manner that even Trump would blush, and with none of the cult backing. Santos was a GOP representative, so it makes sense for those pissed at Santos possibly also being pissed at the GOP for letting it happen.

And Santos's lies got more and more publicity as time went on. It became clear for a lot of people that this guy just wasn't what they voted for, and the man they did vote for was a complete and utter fabrication.
