  • I had a few not install, some say that linux isnt supported in reviews and dont work like alt tab easy fog 2, and sanctus are the ones I remember off the top of my head (sanctus menu didn't work and caused blender to freeze, took me forever to realize it was soemthing I was appending that had a sanctus material causing my crash, didn't realize til I installed the addon on a fresh install and tried applying it to something getting the same issue)

  • Maybe Linux, too lazy to swap back to windows, a lot of random stuff doesnt work or is super annoying to get working, like a material library addon I use for Blender doesn't work for linux apparently (sanctus) and makes it so I cant render with any light in the scene so its not just the menu but the materials themselves. I was hoping at least blender would work, already had to stop pirating houdini and I couldnt get the free version to work either.

All games have been fine, but I dont just game anymore, I like making stuff and playing with 3d tools.

At least embergen seems to work, so I might transition to jangafx over houdini, can buy it monthly and I spend way too much time learning houdini (its fun af) when im likely never making money off this hobby. (cant justify 300$ a year or 2500 perpetual rnow, its an insanely fun simulation toy so it honestly might be worth that, even not making money off it) Its just annoying, I've spent too much time learning it, my brains crammed with Houdini specific information.

  • Its adhd, I had/have it didnt get diagnosed, you could force yourself to learn the hard way (I got disqualified and had to get reinstated took me z6 years instead of 4 for my Bs and I swapped to information systems, which I regret, I gaslighted myself into not liking programming when I just needed to start my work earlier) For me, a mix of getting older, and failing enough times, plus the disqualification, is what got me to goto class and do my work, I wouldn't have done it otherwise, which is why getting diagnosed is necessary.

I used my sisters adderal sparingly the last two years and I mightve not got through without it, some days I would wake up just not caring about anything, super lazy, demotivated, etc. It was pure luck when id do well a semester because I just happened to not wake up feeling bad or oversleep a final that semester. And it's not a choice, why would anyone choose to not do what they want to do when they have the time, just never have energy or have too much.

  • According to sarah silverman theyll grow up to hate israel so they gotta go (I dont like how she kinda got away from being cancelled because she was already irrelevent and shut off her comments for a year to avoid backlash) Midly salty I was her fan and thought she was a woke comedian because she told mfs to vote once.

  • Hetzners still the cheapest pay by the hour option in the US? Long term id use racknerd or littlecreekhosting, but for quick deployments that are paid by the hour on the 3rd of the month, Hetzner is great. Don't have to whip out the credit card, it's instant.

  • cachyos is easiest way to arch, I found the install to be easier than bazzite, its all graphical, very straightforward, just works, imo gnome with extensions is superior to plasma rnow if you want a clean modern look, plasma can get you one too, gnome just feels more crafted. Plasma feels more like an easily tinkerable windows ui, imo in a year itll be nice.

Reason why I talk about gnome and plasma more than distros is that reslly decides your day to day a bit more, bazzite gnome vs plasma or if cachyos you can have both, requires some tinkering. I go back and forth but gnome is the one where I actually end up using my laptop more and feeling good about the look with minimal extensions/tinkering. Gnome without extensions is bottomtier tho imo, not much customization by default (to be fair extensions are built in and a default thing)

I see no reason to switch rnow, but atomic blue distros like bazzite should be safer long term and in general. Backups, fixes issues on reboot, stable with tested updates, etc. You can change to another without losing your files/data. Can't easy effect settings, etc. Im a tinkerer tho, so cachy is superior, things that takes seconds would take minutes and workarounds on bazzite.
