Same, but I generally only use all lowercase in IMs/other short form text media (so, not here), and when I’m writing German I do capitalize nouns. I’ve always had auto capitalization off since before I started this too since I’m used to pressing shift on the computer.

I can speak a bit, I've been learning Russian for a bit more than a year at uni. I actually wanted to take it in high school already but they didn't have it where I went, I had to take French.

I was talking about Telegram. Syncing messages between devices has always been possible on Signal, just not the ones from before you connected the extra device.

Additionally, E2E chats don't sync between devices (and iirc you can't use them on desktop at all), and group chats can't be encrypted at all.

Personally I'd go with Signal. Matrix has a certain jank level IME, for example rooms can get desynced between homeservers and the only way to fix is to create a new room and abandon the old one. Not sure how often that happens for small scale use though, I've only seen it in large rooms.

All of the names containing "rus"/"русь"¹ ultimately come from Русь from where Russia and Belarus both inherit their names.

So, the name of the country Belarus literally means "White Rus", and it seems like the Dutch word I assume you're talking about for the country (Wit-Rusland) was borrowed from the Russian word белоруссия and (incorrectly, I guess?) translated as white (бело) + Russia (руссия) despite the "руссия" also in this word referring to Rus and not Russia (spelled differently as Россия).

¹ the word Россия, too, but from what I can find it is borrowed from Greek and the others including Русь from Arabic, hence the different vowel

Me too, but it's now a subscription only. I wouldn't recommend it to people who didn't already buy the original.

I’ll have to try on Linux but my portable disk is exFAT and I use it for Steam games on my MacBook (both native and Windows) with no issues. Though, that’s through the classic way of running Steam in Wine since there’s no Proton.

Maybe Steam tries to put the Proton prefixes on the drive along with the games and that’s the problem? Wine certainly does need symlink capable FS to work.

If there isn’t already, I’d report this on the Steam for Linux issue tracker (on GitHub for some reason).

I use borgbackup, with daily backup to borgbase.

At some point I want to set up a distributed file system between multiple locations as both a backup target and also a network share with automatic snapshots or some other undelete mechanism, but I still need to get the hardware for that and the current setup works well
