  • While generally I'd agree with you, these apps are engineered to exploit human weaknesses to make a few people money and have real and measurable effects on the human psyche. From reduced attention spans due to short form or dense content, to problems with self-worth, these apps are literally bad for you if you engage with them a lot - which, again, they are engineered to get you to do. They are completely manipulative and not "just another fun thing".

You can also have fun by reading a book. Or making something. Or going out.

  • Sorry, but arguing with "My app crashed so just shut up", as much as I understand the frustration, is just stupid. Don't you think? You did not say a single word about their topic and are just getting needlessly angry and abusive.

  • First of all, it's not giving away money, it's giving away useless hardware.

Second, the US is getting a lot from this in a strategic sense. This is not about money, it's about weakening one of their biggest adversaries without sending their own soldiers. If Ukraine falls, there is a lot to lose for them and others.

  • I get what you mean but the block in Congress is based on bad faith. Sometimes you gotta get pragmatic.

  • Nope, definitely not standard windows stuff.

  • The video contains all necessary information and you don't need to turn your phone. I don't see a problem here.

  • I work for german government agencies from time to time and they are working on it... It's just really slow because there is so much of it, and due to organizational overhead. Also, there is not a single push for the entirety of Germany, but some things everyone does for themselves.

  • Paywalls.

  • Ah, yeah, same stuff as always. Management.

The licensing part I did think about, but the songs are in a proprietary format anyway (I think?) and any keys or whatever can be refreshed without streaming the entire song over a slow connection.

Thank you for your detailed answer!

  • Oh yeah, I really didn't think about it from an energy perspective, but I also never slant it when I heat. Only when it's a little warmer, in winter I do "impact ventilate". (What an interesting word, in German it's "Stoßlüften", so a very similar literal translation :D)

Really interesting point with the mass though! I do notice active air exchange when it's colder, however, so not sure if it would make such a difference?

  • Can I ask you why Spotify has this braindead handling of downloaded songs where it still tries to fucking stream them? This goes on my nerves so incredibly much that I'm thinking about quitting my subscription because it's so fucking stupid.

I've downloaded it, Spotify. No you don't have to fucking stream it when I have a bad network connection so the fucking downloaded song constantly cuts off or doesn't even load!!!

  • I will never buy a rice cooker since I am completely happy with rice made in a pot, be it for sushi or anything else. Is there really such a difference? I don't really notice a difference between my rice and that in restaurants.

  • Just get what you enjoy, you don't have to follow or reject trends because of others :)

  • Snapchat is not end-to-end encrypted, so they saw the message and notified the authorities. So yes, exactly.

"Intercepted while the plane was over England through unknown reasons" my ass lmao.

  • You got me! 😁

  • Got one (WF-2810) at our favorite online retailer monopoly and am pretty happy. The software is ugly and in some places unintuitive but works well, and it allows off-brand inks but "warns" you about them. It also prints relatively slowly (compared to printers of other people) but it really isn't bad and I've had the current cartridges in for the past two years and they still work perfectly after a quick (automatic) refresh. The scanner is ridiculously slow though - I don't mind but I can imagine it annoying some.

Can recommend if you don't print a lot or something!
