Uh, that’s not how silence or the media work.
- Might be another Streisand effect, can't say I'm bothered by that possibility

- What do you think the difference between "media silence" and "ministers not making statements to the media" is?
  
  It's not really about what I think.
  Ordering media silence means the media has been ordered not to report on something, like the Chinese media and declining economic indicators. That's not the case here.
- Israeli Knesset member from the Likud party, Danny Danon, congratulated security forces for the assassination in what appears to be the first official Israeli acknowledgment of responsibility.
  "I congratulate the Israeli army, the Shin Bet, and the Mossad and the security forces on killing the senior Hamas official Salah al-Arouri in Beirut,'' Danon wrote on X.
  The article isn't overblown. No statements on the bombing are allowed to be made by the Israeli government to fake plausible deniabilty.
  It's like a new trend I'm seeing here on lemmy. Every anti israel article some guy comes in and calls it "overblown and out of proportions" when the article is clearly backed up with evidence.
  
  Silencing the media is a much bigger deal than a government body not talking publicly about a military operation.

What's the difference between "demanding media silence" and calling for censorship?
- Censorship is done by the state. Media silence is done by the media voluntarily.
  
  If you get punished by the state for not complying with a demand for media silence, then what is the difference? (I'm not referring specifically to this case, but in general)
