To be happy to have its agricultural exports sanctioned, despite the grain deal stating that these sanctions had to go the way of the Dodo. Russia mainly exports its grain and fertilizer to the third world.
This lead to the effect that already delivered fertilizer could not be paid as Russia is cut off from SWIFT and the receiving party is not yet part of the Russian clearing system. The shitshow ended with Russia just gifting the stuff in many cases.
Showing again how great the west is at making friends.
