Religion is the opioid addiction of the masses (to paraphrase). How hard it must be to have to deal with life on realistic terms and solve problems using human ingenuity instead of a reliance on a supernatural entity to shower you with good or bad outcomes. I guess it's just easier not to have to shoulder the responsibility of being each other's keeper and helper on this planet.

And what religion is "our religion" in his view. A religion that believes anyone who isn't white is a scumbag. A religion that believes bigotry is somehow defensible. A religion that believes fondling women and treating them like scum is such a wonderful way to go through life. A religion that looking like a deteriorated Autumn squash is somehow attractive and powerful.
