Oh man, I'm so embarrassed. It was my birthday yesterday and many beers and cocktails were had. In my drunken stupor I mistakenly texted the word 'fuck' to my mother-in-law in the UK. I was mortified when I realised but it was too late, she'd already seen the message. I am cringing just typing this.
Quick! Send one with "cunt" so she forgets about the message saying fuck!

I has done a pizza
Was hot only got half way through rest is for tomorrow.. had jalapenos, that bullseye sauce and some home fermented habanero sauce.
Hawt.
that looks really good 🤤🤤🤤
Suddenly I am ravenous!
Sooo delicious looking!
That looks awesome!
Oh wow!
fermented habanero sauce....
I'm sorry, but what? Where can I find that?
Made about 5 litres of the stuff 2 yrs ago.
Bit similar to the byron bay chilli co. sauce you can get from woolies.
Don't even eat meat but I gotta say that looks very very well made. Do you have a wood fired oven?
I wish I had a wood fired oven :(
I'd be all over that without the rubber O-rings
Have my start date for the new job!!! One last fuck you to my current head is taking a week of annual leave and peacing the fuck out.
Holy shit....it's only 1030 and my goals have been achieved.
I fucking rule
Enjoy the morning high :P
It was glorious. Been too long since I did a day bake.
There's a guy I work with whose lunch becomes a community experience very often.
He's Korean and his wife is an excellent cook, so the transition from "his lunch" to "Food For The People" is swift
Yum.
Tried talking to my parents about how shit my mental health is.
I only got to talking about how I feel, not some of the things that were bothering me and was met with,
"Grow up!"
And
"Oh no, is an ant crawling on you again,"
And
"Just get off social media," (which I have reduced my intake of)
So I don't know if I'm just bad at communicating how I feel. I think it's because I got emotional, and that made them might’ve made them feel threatened.
Some parents are not going to be a good choice to talk to about mental health. It’s hard to process this about someone you want to share stuff with, but it’s better to accept it. It can worsen mental health if you try to open up to someone and they belittle you. Do you have other people who you can talk to?
many big hugs
it's not you
one would hope expressions of feelings would be responded to with empathy and caring
I don't have good advice here but for me I understand what you're feeling. It's rough.
The "no" voting reply guys are relentless and, call me paranoid, it's hard not to conclude that we're being subjected to some kind of large scale attack.
And could we just be the testing ground for disinformation campaigns that will really kick off for the 2024 Presidential election?
Have a look at their account age and posting history, I reckon there's totally a disinfo campaign going on. Mostly I blame the evangelicals but there's a lot of people who benefit from conservatism enough to maintain it.
The point isn't to change the vote, the point is they are creating social division.
Absolutely, whip up division to keep the proles distracted.
Voter manipulation is already a thing. Have a look at the Cambridge analytica documentary, The Great Hack, on Netflix. In one country, they did a campaign to convince young voters to not vote out of protest (now if you apply the tiniest bit of logic, not voting is the worst way to protest anything, you are letting the opposition win unopposed). But people fell for it and it swung the election against the targeted demographic. Victory for the manipulators. So yeah, it’s real. Aspects of the no campaign are using similar tactics with ‘don’t know vote no’, convincing people to give up their participation. Be very very wary of people trying to convince you of staying ‘unknowing’ or throwing away your vote. On any topic.
Today turned to shit. I'm going to sit in the sun until I feel better
I saw a young asian man today wearing a red robe (silky or satiny) with a thing black belt and a silver or white cirular embroidery of a dragon or Phoenix design on the front. It was over his normal clothes.
I was with my son, in the car, on the way home from his martial arts class. We both noticed the man and decided he looked like a mega cool modern warrior monk. Going shopping (he had his phone and a personal pull-along shopping trolley).
Maybe he was going to or from some traditional performance or practice. Either way, he looked cool, triggered our imaginations and made our day.
Shoutout to the 2 people at woolies just then who were displaying majestic coinslots looking for pasta sauce on the bottom shelf and the horrified older couple walking past. You made my day.
Also this Pelargonium thing is in full swing
PSA: Today I found out how to cook easy peasy cheesy crusted crumpets. And they are YUMMM. Strong recommend. Perfect with a light fruity white wine, or possibly a crisp light beer.
Well you can't post that comment and then not share the recipe/method, come now.
OK, if you insist. I only have a flat surface sandwich press, so don't know if this would work with a ribbed one. Probably would.
Put crumpets on heated press base side down until underside is crisp. Flip and do other side until golden brown. Remove, butter lightly, and top with a couple of slices of pickled gherkin, and then about 1 cm thick of shredded tasty cheese (or two slices thick of sliced tasty cheese). Put back on sandwich press, cover tops with a strip of baking parchment paper and put the top of the press down and leave for at least 5 mins. The cheese melts, and forms a beautifully crispy top to the crumpets and another crispy cheese frill around the base of each crumpet. When it starts to smell ALMOST burned, remove with spatula, and devour. Even the drips are tasty. And there are lots of drips so plate/napkin/apron is essential.
Next time I try this I'm a gonna put some hawt sauce under the cheese and pickles.
I wanted to say something important regarding aliens and climate (we're fucked) and shit but I think my true belief is in carbohydrates I need these carbs.
Ohhhh i hate the idea of alien saviours so damned much it's just hanging our species' 'daddy save me!!' issues on another hook
If aliens existed they probably would come as pest control, to prevent us spreading this bullshit through the galaxy and destroying more planets.
Neighbours irrigation system has either failed or just been left on. Their front garden is basically flooded and they're away at the moment.
Same neighbour which destroyed my shed wall and hasn't bothered to build a retaining wall.
My mind is conflicted. Do I care or do I not care.
But I do think there are lessons here.
If it doesn't leak into your yard you don't care. Not your business.
yea agreed.
Snap send solve for water wastage.
yea so tried that 2 yrs ago for the other neighbour whose sprinkler system failed. they can't do anything if they can't easily get to the mains.
Cats are dying, to avert tragedy I better dash to the supermarket to get their favourite food
Yesterday was abysmal. Lost an earbud tip, lost one of my earrings, got stuck in the rain, but I walked 11k steps AND that stool I bought was such a brilliant idea!
But time for PAX day one, hope y'all have a fantastic day!
Totally off topic, but a few nights ago I was listening to an audiobook about the start of the zombie apocalypse from the perspective of a group of people who had a stand at Comic con. They were all trapped in there as everyone turned to zombies and ate eachother.
I hope you have a fantastic time ❤️
The Last Stand of the California Browncoats, by Mira Grant. I've read that
That sounds ridiculous. I've gotta give it a read/listen then.
Edit: also thank you! It's big three days of talking to people and telling them "sorry you can't get in without a ticket" and thinking "why did you decide to ship your badge to you via auspost when you could've just... Brought it here with you?".
Exercises completed. Loving the intense 5 minute workout, but I know it'll get progressively longer. Did some shopping for Mr Ps birthday lunch/dinner tomorrow (he wants roast chicken) and some extra gifts and cards, gift wrap etc. Made sausage rolls when I got home, which I haven't done in a while, while the Elder narrated The Walking Dead to me as I cooked. Elder loves my sausage rolls, I made them party sized and he had about 8 of them! Sent some in to MIL. Did a couple of loads of washing. Then showed Miniest how to make garlic butter and then turn rolls into garlic bread. She made me a coffee all by herself! 🥹 I tried to keep busy because I'm so used to working Fridays and I didn't want to think about it too much. Mr P will go out for a smoke at some point and we'll wrap the gifts.. I love birthdays (with the one exception being my own. I just feel awkward, and then it seems to be over fairly quickly).
Taking a jolly tram to my appt this morning, trying to feel a bit more Yay Melbourne and less depressed than yesterday. The tram drivers changed over and were so relaxed and cheerful, and the new driver somehow fixed the PA system so it stopped saying "Th' nkkrd ... p.. s... sr.. str..." There is some sun out. It's relatively relaxed and calm at this time of the day. The people are diverse and friendly. There is a vibrant range of eateries and shops on Bridge Rd (it's a bit quiet but still cool). OKAY BUT THE SENSE OF SAD IS STILL OVERWHELMING AND PERVASIVE
E: I paid too much for a coffee and breakfast bagel but NGL it has improved my mood temporarily. Gotta pop into Kmart for one of those shower squeegees and I might walk all the way home after that, 3km is a good bit of walking
I took leave this week with the aim of doing things around the house and sorting the very cluttered shed, but the weather has been against me and yesterday I saw a rat going into the shed.
Not scared of the rat but I’m a bit worried if I disturb it, it might think that coming into the house is a good idea.
It's been a long day and the funk has not quite cleared but I did, very slowly, get dinner organised in between getting a FRL ticket and looking up car rentals. Chana dal with a scrumptious tadka and guar bean with chickpea flour and ajwain seeds (!).
Watched The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar (arrrr) because of my intense love of the book growing up, even though I honestly don't like most Wes Anderson films. I feel so wrapped up in warmth and coziness and genuine nostalgia.
Thank God they've gone. I love my dog and all but if he didn't bite people he would've gone too.
Happy Friday everybody and cheers 🍹
Here’s a dog video for you https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AdMgVkp4OXI
Hehe. I like it. Thanks
Cheers!
Cheers buddy. 🍹
Happy friday 🐕🍻🍺

It's always adorable when you see protests walking around Docklands as if there is anyone around to notice/be disrupted (he says, having noticed them while getting lunch).
There was a group of about 20 of them half-heartedly banging on a drum and yelling something indecipherable. They seemed to be from the United Workers Union (yes.. UwU..) and I think I heard them say the word respect.
Bless them. I hope they're enjoying the sunshine on their day off.
My car won't start. Probably just the battery but I was planning on buying some supplies for tonight since the others will be going to the Weezer concert. Ah well no wine for me. I'll just have a vodka or two instead.
I have many memories of roll starting cars. Autos sort of took the fun out of that.
I have too. Luckily these days the man has a battery charger. He can pretend he's a member of the pitstop crew at Bathurst.
I too encountered fresh poop on the road.
Savemore supermarkets has some regulars who dump half a dozen used nappies on the street outside the kayak shop next door. I've never seen them, but I'm up for kicking their car if I ever do.
If you ever do they'd be up shit creek without a paddle.
I don’t really wanna think about this, but how do they know it’s of human origin?
me: IMMA GONNA DO ALL THE THINGS THIS WEEKEND
deluge: OFMD s2, Foundation S2, The Bear, School of Chocolate, Lower Decks, Loki S2
.....fuck
Melbcat is being so cuddly and cute. She’s not happy that she’s not allowed outside though, she wants the sun. Unfortunately if she absconds I’m not up to chasing her, and fishy fertiliser went on the plants.
The vegie seedlings have spent their first few nights outside. The first night was an accident due to exhaustion but after seeing they didn’t get eaten they are now tentatively outside plants. (This may change when I add the next wave of spinach seeds. Snails seem to smell new seedlings.) Edit: They're getting their second leaves! They probably enjoyed the rain even if it washed out the application of Powerfeed.
The watering can bothers me. Spraying the contents everywhere from a decent hole during use is a problem. I’m deciding whether to complain and get a new one or just patch it with Sugru to avoid plastic waste (which means another order and another delivery fee - and will the patch stay in place?). I wish I could just physically go buy shit myself to avoid having constant issues.
I’ve also frozen up on art. There’s a lot of informal support and resources for learning cartoony or anime style art but I don’t really like that style for myself. I like fine art. But it’s pretty intimidating to want to be that good. Where do you start
metal or plastic watering can? If the former, just snag some weldbond (putty). (also sugru lasts for-EVER if you stuff it in the freezer)
Hey Melbourne people. What’s the best food delivery service down there that I could send a sick friend a voucher for? Uber eats?
"Best" is a big concept with food delivery. Uber is probably the biggest, which is what you'll want. Unless you contact a place directly and have them deliver a nice cake or flowers or something like that.
Thanks, yeah just looking for something they can use that has some variety. Appreciate the input!
Dinner Ladies? Or Fair Feed are both great for pre-made meals
All done with my training and the work week! I've been saying it for a couple of weeks now but I absolutely MUST clean this place tonight/tomorrow because I'm having a friend come to stay Sunday night. Visitor cleaning motivation go go go!
Luckily, I've done a few little bits here and there so I have a head start.
G’day you lot
g’day mum
SUN
Soap forest begins its transition!
I did not walk the 3km home from Kmart as I got sucked into getting some storage things and a replacement shower caddy for the frankly terrible one that came with the unit and every time I use it I think "I need to get a new one" and promptly forget. Anyway I have those and then after over 10 years living in Australia i have finally stepped into an actual Ikea in this country (surprise, same layout everywhere!) and got a squeegee - the original thing I came to this shopping centre for - and a hanging storage thing for my closet (another "this is annoying, I should fix it (and then forget about it)" situation), and a set of 3 cool storage hooks that look like the arseholes of Richmond supporters.
I did my best to say no to things that seemed nifty but that I don't need and can make do with what I have. And now I'm extremely overwhelmed from being in cheap plastic shops for so long and feeling kind of gross about buying new things so I'm going to cook some food from scratch when I get home
I never went to those shops that used to be called "$2 shops", recently I went into one close to my house and was surprised at how much stuff they had that was useful.
Exactly. I'd used to think it was all cheap disposable decorative or entertainment tat, but the better ones (Daiso esp) have all sorts of little useful things. I think I have a mini whisk, two small spatulas, a foldable clothes peg hoop, and various laundry bags from there. These have all lasted quite a few years and are useful and decently priced.
we went arguing with shower caddies then realised we liked the one that had an extending pole we used at the old place the best, but didn't like the extending pole part so I ended up retrofitting it with some 3D printing to combination hang / suction cup in the stall.
But Ikea is still evil for various things
Its evilness is precisely why I've staved off its temptations this long. It's okay going there back where I grew up because it has memories of being a high school hangout place and just going in for meatballs, plush toys, cushions and sitting on random beds/pretending to be cool in the display bathrooms, but most of my adult life has been in Australia and it would be so easy to collect (especially when I had a car).
Mind you, my house is still 75% IKEA, but all second hand.
I will say this $9 Kmart shower caddy with hanging + suction cups and a separate little tray for solid soap pleases me very much so far.
My post nasal hurts, so do my sinuses, I ache all over and am feeling weirdly overheated but when I take off a layer I get cold. Anytime I feel like this the rat comes back negative so it’s either the chronic sinus infection back or hayfever.
Also really struggling with ‘hot’ boredom. Apparently since I can’t do much physically my brain won’t allow me to do anything either, in solidarity. This is not restful. It’s demoralising and miserable
thrashes
I have been popping into the gözleme place over the road every few days for the last 2 weeks trying to get a sujuk & tasty cheese gözleme but they either keep just selling out for the day or waiting for a delivery of the sausage. Today I finally have obtained one and I am pleased :)
If you ever see it on a Turkish menu, it's a lovely spicy (not too spicy, just enough to make it interesting) sausage. Don't be scared of the sujuk (sometimes spelled sucuk) it is your friend.
Do you know what else is really good? Simit. It's a turkish doughnut shaped bread roll with sesame seeds and has a slight sweet taste. Once you try them, you'll think about them all the time.
Sujuk loves me and I love it
sujuk are friends, not food.
Love wfh. Can take a nap anytime!
Finished my daily "morning walk" and "food cupboard" quests. Mr Woof picked up a few more sniff quests, and we finished the "man in a hoodie" quest today - it didn't lead to an ongoing chain, we identified he is walking around the block multiple times while keeping an eye on a fitness tracker. We failed to get an explanation for the fashion choice of a hoodie with shorts.
I'm not sure if looking at my life like a gaming list of quests helps or hinders getting things done. I officially failed the "put the bins out" quest this week, and have really not made any progress on the main gardening quest line. Unfortunately I don't live in game time, so these things don't just wait around indefinitely for me to do them.
I use a magnetic chore chart, mainly to remember whether I’ve done the essentials. But these are now my Dailies.
Why are dailies tolerable in game but not irl… gaming done right does have a sense of progression and purpose 😕
Hoodie with shorts makes sense to me. My legs feel less cold than upper body, especially if its windy. If its in an annoying in between kind of temperature i wont be warm enough to have arms etc uncovered but may still be too warm for everything covered
Ugh, was going to build a mobile mitre saw stand but then saw guides on making a flip top. Awesome, then I have saw table I can flip to also be a mobile workbench! but then cutting the ply would mean dragging out the table saw so I should probably put that on skates since it's gonna get a lot of use building cabinets in the future, so I do some nosing on that and everyone is building little platforms to put their tables on and why don't they just get lockable castors on threads and bolt them to the existing bolt-down holes on the table saw feet? Is there a reason for this? I need to know as the table end height would dictate the mitre saw table so I can set them the same height and use it as an outfeed......
Update: There is no reason why I cannot do this. Craftsmen sells a whole line of table saws with wheels attached in the manner I propose- complaints seem to be about poorly locking wheels. TO THE BUNNINGS!
For anyone going home late, rail transport is currently a disaster. Power fault between Southern Cross and North Melbourne has cascaded across most of the services that run through the city.
There may be replacement buses at Flagstaff, but not confirmed just yet.
EDIT: No-one seems to know what's happening.
EDIT 2 (23:45): Trains are beginning to resume.
Oh no. I do not want to have to drive into the city to collect my family.

Voting done. There was a queue, but not too long only had to wait about 10min. Maybe because it was around lunch time.
@SituationCake @bot001 well that just gave me a heart attack! I am glad to see I didn't remember the date wrong and that's just early voting. Phew.
So cold, oodie on, heater on.
It's quite dramatic compared to the heat of the other day.
After not being able to fart all day due to being in a very public setting all day, let's just say i am making up for lost time
Realised too late that I left a sheet outside before I went out. Whoops!
It's also been awfully dry of late. Since I don't have a humidifier, nor the money for one, I've taken to abusing the evaporative cooler by blowing the output through a heater, in the hopes it'll damp things up a bit.
My whole day has been on delay as in a half asleep state this morning, I turned my alarm off without setting a new one. Didn’t start doing any work until 11am so finished later. Just got back from a sunset stroll, was chilly out there. Pizza about to go in the oven. Beer being consumed. Cheers y’all.
Looks like I'm not the only person who lost patience with Defence Health's IT stuffups and decided to change. They are probably lucky in some ways because they are a restricted membership fund and most people will have to pay more if they leave, but I don't know how a company gets back on its feet after a mess up this bad. It sounds like they are stuck at a point where they can't go back to the old system and the new one just isn't working.
I'm up to act 3 of Baldurs Gate and I have to say I am not overly enjoying it as much as the others. While it's not bad, and I'm not having a terrible, I just find the whole thing a bit meh. Feels like there's way to much going, I'm really struggling to keep up with what I'm supposed to be doing. It's sort of like the creators went, oh shit better finish up the game, but wait here's a shit ton of side quests with side quests of their own.
well that was incredible listening khachaturian , it leaps off the record and grabs you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Zgy9Yv6DLc
Sigh. I left the same load of washing in the machine again. I think that needs to go on the chore chart :(
If you like the CSB style disaster recreation animations, the ONRSR's (Rail Safety Regulator) vimeo channel is worth checking out.

For someone who loves dressing up and Halloween, I really cannot figure out what to be for Halloween. My options so far are: Sporty Spice, Wednesday Addams, Shego from Kim Possible, Kim Possible, or a random miscellaneous witch?
You're gonna rock any of those. Depends on how 'adult' you wanna go.
Wednesday and witch can be spiced up to hell.
It's your booty and therefore your choice.
So I didn't think I would be, but I think I'm a Boost convert. Been using Sync for years, but Boost is just that tiny little bit better.
Goals for today
Chuck a sickie - done
Grab coffee and pastry from Lebanese bakery
Purchase new Assassin's Creed game
Get high and play new game
I aspire to be as mean and elevatory as you some day....
Both are achievable grasshopper
