WASHINGTON ― In a head-spinning move on Tuesday, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) introduced legislation that would repeal cuts to Medicaid he helped make possible only two weeks ago.

The bill would restore funding that states rely on to finance Medicaid, which Republicans put on the chopping block by passing President Donald Trump’s so-called “big, beautiful” tax and spending law. The measure passed on a party-line vote after months of debate and hand-wringing about taking health insurance away from vulnerable Americans ― including voters who supported Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

This motherfucker thinks his seat is safe if he just does this performative kayfabe nonsense. Our state voted for a $15 minimum wage and required paid sick leave in 2024, so I guarantee you, now is not the time to be taking a dump on the poor.

I'm sure it's performative. I would not be surprised if the plan is to add some other reprehensible stuff to the final bill so that Democrats have to approve the terrible stuff simply to get the cuts canceled or they have to vote against it and be labeled as anti-Medicaid. Because it seems so often, that is the way it goes whenever Republicans appear to maybe be doing something good for the common folk.
Ok guys but after I will put up a bill to remove that really unpopular part and you guys bad it down and I will wail on how I was foiled. Sound good.
