I'm not sure he has any "core supporters" on the left anymore, and I don't think his "core supporters" on the right are anything but fair weather friends. Since Musk is now attacking trump directly, I can't imagine they'll be Elon fans anymore.
His 'core supporters' at this point are the people who make money from talking about him or just being around him (the podcasters who report on SpaceX).
I think the politically apothetic are not happy because on a financial level it's failing
Guess he has quite an uphill battle ahead of him.
