Sandy seemed to be apologizing for trying to kick me and 3 other people for trying to put medicine on her foot.

She was very spicy about the whole thing, which is understandable given how her foot is infected. Hopefully she'll be feeling a bit better when I go see her on Monday.

I hate seeing her sore like this. I'm not used to dealing with thrush, so it's a bit hard for me to handle it alone. The horses I had as a kid had a much better farm to run around on, so their feet were always in great shape. Thankfully I have a lot of support and assistance in this time of learning and healing.

She'll do it again
Hopefully the “good stuff” you sprung for will kick in soon and she’ll be less resistant.
I don’t know much about horses, but I suppose this would be equivalent to a human having an infection under a fingernail or? Bc that’d be super sensitive pain wise.
So I take it she developed this since being at this farm? Could she get it again bc of conditions there?
You know, we really do need her full backstory. Sweet girl has a fan base and we love her ❤️ I know I smile every time you post a Sandy pic.
Also, if she needs anything else to help her live her best healthy life that you need help funding, I’m sure some of us would be happy to help.

  I'm not sure of the human equivalent of this, but it definitely is painful for her.
  She can get it again, but hopefully she won't. She was really overdue to have her hooves trimmed, and I hadn't realized that her owner just didn't schedule any appointments for that. I'm gonna be doing that scheduling for her. It's really important to keep their hooves trimmed to avoid stuff like this. There also isn't much turn out space and the people who do her stall half-ass it like 50% of the time. All those things combined can lead to this kind of infection. This is the first time she's had it since I started seeing her a year ago, which shows that she has naturally healthy hooves when they're maintained.
  I don't know much about her backstory, but I do know that she was abused. She's real skittish at times and flinches if you raise your hand at her in certain ways. She also just sat in her stall and did nothing until I started coming around and was kinda feral because of it. I've been working super hard to desensitize her and get her used to being loved. She had a reputation for being kinda crazy and people avoided her because of it. She just had a lot of pent up energy and needed love. Now people think she's a sweet girl.
