A perfect use for them - controlled environment, difficult conditions, repetitive and predictable workflow.
But I'm puzzled by the design - why have a cab? Wouldn't a more efficient layout be a whole-bed platform with all systems underneath?
Probably to be human operated as a backup in case of system failure.
My guess is if they're already investing time and money into the software and hardware to make them functionally self operating, then why go through the extra effort to reinvent the wheel (or truck bed in this case, which would leave the engine out front) if it doesn't directly accomplish their goal.
