Rough night sleep as you might imagine. I’m really torn between cooking up a whole lasagna and casserole and dropping it over and recognising that I’m just trying to do something to deal with how I feel and that’s kinda fuckin rude. They’ll have family and shit around all the time anyway.

My go to for these situations is to drop off toilet paper, tissues and some basics like tea, coffee and long life milk. Grief makes it hard to keep track of the basics and you also have lots of people visiting you, so those are the sorts of things you most want. Food can cause more problems, because you have to find somewhere in the fridge for it etc.
If it's just happened, I'd say leave them be. When it's settled maybe look at mowing the lawns, or taking the kids for a bit.
- Apparently it happened Monday but yeah thinking we might leave it a few days before we reach out, let them know if there’s anything they need.
Try not to be so hard on yourself man.
Your heart is in right place. Give them a couple of days to get over the shock then you can extend your condolences and assist where you can.

I'm sorry mate. If it's any help, I've always found in the days and first couple of weeks after someone passes away there are heaps of people coming around and offering help in various ways. Then people seem to go back to their own lives and you're truly left with the aftermath. This is when I begin to offer help with something, which is sometimes when they really need it and also when my own emotions are less raw and I can be more useful. That's just me though.

I had a dream the other night that I was at a swimming carnival and everyone was wearing shoes, even in the water, so I took mine off and when I went to get them after my swim they had been stolen.

My dream was about vomiting I think? So weird. Maybe I need to purge things from my life.
As the owner of both a petrol and diesel cars I live in fear of this.

- I'm so so grateful for my dad and his side of the family - they've always been the people who have encouraged me and loved me for me. Supportive of my interests. Much of the uncertainty I feel about them, is just my own trauma - I fit in so well with my family it's hard not to see we're all related. 💜💜

The party was a hit. Everyone went home feeling good about themselves. Most have shit parents. No young person deserves to be a disappointment to their parents for their sexual or gender orientation. They're just people. Bring in the hugs. I don't care. My home is always welcome.

- I wasn't there to hear all the conversations. I already knew a lot. It's sad to know some parents are neglectful or abusive. I thought gen x were better than that.

I have been unmotivated for packing, but I did get motivated to finish a sewing project I've been planning for ages. A work jacket which I removed the logo from has now had an embroidered tree sewn in its place to cover the damage from removing the stitching. Now I have another jacket I can wear over winter.

I've been topping off my aliexpress orders with sew on patches to get the free postage. I've got a few to add to my winter jacket. Progress flag, The Exploited, Electricity will kill You and the Nerv Logo from Evangelion.
- Good option. My go to cheap item has generally been decals.

I had this big clothes shopping day planned but fuck that. If I could lug the TV into the bedroom that'd be my spot for the day.

Three or four years ago, I got my sister a real Oodie, and myself one from Big W. Her oodie is holding up really well, and mine is less so, but is still good enough. I think I wear mine more anyway.

I bought my kids cheap ones with matching pants from QVM (it was all I could afford at the time) and they've held up magnificently. Elder wears his heaps, Miniest not so much. Hers is so large that I'm tempted to wear it as a normal sized hoodie 🤣
I have an oodie that my partner's mum bought me. It has some stains and cigarette burns on it, but I wouldn't give it up under any circumstance.
I wore my old oodie pretty much 6 months every day for a few years. It got holes from wear!

Time to get up. What a nuisance. But the rain will be here in an hour or so, so I'd better get cracking.

I should be working on my thesis but man, 3 days straight of hard work on it has fried my brain a little. Instead I'm watching really fascinating videos about linguistics by Dr Geoff Lindsay so I can still feel smart...

I live near the caravan park just after spaghetti junction and that's all true. Might sound hoighty toighty but it tracks with my experience.
Perhaps the caravan park should make cats compulsory. No one in the park will be able to get up to mischief if they are stuck inside because the cat is on their lap.

So, about this thing called sleep

I've been low on motivation today, so I've been shopping online again. I managed to resist the temptation to buy wall decals to turn the laundry into a rainforest, but I did get some plant decals for Miss Meow's garden corner. And I got a decal of a window looking out over a garden, in the hopes that the tiny toilet with no window in it will feel less closed in that way. I also got a couple to go on the back of the van to help it stand out a bit in a sea of white vehicles.

A few more things arrived today too - the plate stands work really well, I ended up buying a couple more so I can use them for cutting boards, pot lids and anything else that I can find to stand up. I also have a couple more draw organiser things for the kitchen drawers so I can try and keep them somewhat under control. I'm still waiting for my new rubbish bin and a set of shelves to go over the toilet.

I've stayed away from online shopping because I know I'd spend so much cash lol

- It's very easy to get out of control when shopping, and I definitely have a history with doing that. I have been being good for a few years now though, and putting away money for future updates, which is what I'm doing now. There should not be much else now, it's probably only a few pet proofing things I need now.

Edit: I think a kids tent might be a solution to them staying dry and being able to keep their food dry as well.

Cardboard boxes might be a better solution. They might be scared of the rustling of a plastic tent. My recollection of kids tents is that they are made of cheapest possible plastic and are not sturdy at all. Also very brightly coloured and could be considered rubbish by passers by. An unobtrusive box behind some bushes might be easier for them.

I need something to stop me hitting the garage wall while still getting as close as possible. Wheel stops need to be bolted down so that won't work. I'm thinking something like a pool noodle bollard. Does such a thing exist? Or do I need to get two pool noodles and a couple of christmas tree stands or similar? 🤔

What you can do is mark the wall of the garage on the driver's side and when the mirror becomes level with it stop.
- Well, I can't see the front of the car. I would like to be able to get right to the wall so I have space to get things in and out of the back, but if I misjudge and damage the plaster it's going to be an expensive fix. The side wall of the garage is too far away to be an effective marker.
Would a sandbag work? Heavy enough not to move but won’t damage the floor
I would suggest maybe hanging a tennis ball where you want to stop or measure by side mirror as that’s how I know where to stop when I reverse park.
Sitting from the drivers seat and looking at my side mirror, if it’s hitting the end of the parking line then I know I’m in and have plenty of room at the back but I’ve got a hatchback.
Didn't you get a reversing cam? I use that.
- I had a new thought - a cheap plastic bollard at the back and reversing in to mark where stop so I can still get the door closed. That way I can use the camera/sensors and the unloading area will be closer to the doors to the house/yard, the walking path across the garage will be clear. And I'll be nowhere near the wall with the car. That will work way better!
- This is for going in forwards. If I reverse right up to the wall I can't get anything in and out of the back. I want to be able to get as close to the wall forwards as I can, so there is maximum room at the back to load and unload.
