Anyway, what's the procedure for deciding on a replacement? Is it different from the one at the start of the term, possibly with more opportunities to put a thumb on the scale? I ask because i fully expect the neolibs to try to ratfuck AOC out of the position a second time.

While Connolly has stepped away from the daily rigors of the ranking membership amid a fight with esophageal cancer, he hasn’t stepped down from the position altogether. Instead, he’s tapped Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-Mass.), another senior member of the Oversight Committee, to serve as interim ranking member for the indefinite future.
That move places Lynch as the top Democrat on the panel, but without the formalities — including a vote of the full caucus — required to seat a permanent ranking member.

I'm glad they used up political capital that hasn't directly done damage and now allows her to take the position without as much resistance, most likely. I'm sure they will still try to go against her, but it will be all the harder when articles like this allude to a non progressive agenda in the old establishment within the party.
