- Sadly the opposite is happening right now for healthcare and research. Wages are low, housing is expensive. In the states wages are higher and housing is cheaper, its a no brainer. I've seen MASSIVE brain drain over the years, hopefully wages adjust or housing crashes or both but we definitely need to reassess our priorities.

I would prefer that Americans to stay and fix their own country, yes.
But I also understand and sympathize with marginalized and vulnerable populations (including but not limited to: LGBT folks, racial minorities and women) wanting to move somewhere safer.
