I always love Casino movies. One thing they all have is if a person is screwing up cheating being beligerant and other stuff they take them to a room. And their face gets messed up is this real?

Or a movie trope?

In the early days of Vegas yeah it was true or at least it's said it was.
Today not that we know of.
- I feel like it's still common in Atlantic City. I have no evidence at all, it just seems like a shady place.
What are some of your favorites? I too enjoy a good casino flick.
"Oceans 13" was really good (and features the beating scene you speak of)
"Casino" is the Gold Standard
"21" wasn't great-great but surely has good blackjack action and Spacey before his creepiness was known
"Casino Royale" was OK. Needed more casino.

- I liked the Las Vegas TV series from 2005.
  Probably full of stereotypes but I was young at the time and really enjoyed seing the work done by the Montecito security team. Also, plenty of beautiful ladies making teenager me happy.

Organized crime was important to the development of Vegas as we know it today. So I think that is the origin of that trope. I think these days the association is not as strong as it once was, so likely this is no longer a thing, but having been to Vegas I would believe it of a few of the casinos I've seen
Mostly a movie trope now. Casinos are full of video cameras, and are owned by large corporations; they're not going to want to pay a large legal settlement because you got beat up by a security guard. And, BTW, most large chain stores with security usually tell their loss prevention officers to not get physical with shoplifters for the same reason.
You'll usually just get thrown out and banned for life from any of their properties.
When casinos were largely owned by organized crime? Probably pretty accurate, if you were lucky.
