IIRC he and Jerry joined forces to wreck the thing. Just something to think about
Those two must have had a deal (and eventually Spike joined in)...
Tom chases Jerry around without catching him and Jerry doesn't kill Tom in self defense. Anything that changes the status quo, they team up to defeat.
