issue logging in to account on browser

I am having an issue logging in to my account from my web browser, and I thought this might be the place to ask about it.

I am able to log in to my account through Jerboa which is how I made this post, so I know the login info is correct. I am not using the auto fill feature for my user name and password. On my browser, when I put in my credentials, the site tells me that I have logged in, but it doesn't show my account, instead showing me the generic, non account front page with options to sign in or log in. I can attempt to sign in again, but then the whole process loops.

As my account still exists, I have no idea what the issue might be or where to look for an answer. Thank you for your time.

  • Try clearing the site data for lemmy.world. In chromium browsers: click the lock icon to the left of the url bar > click cookies > click bin icon

Do note that sometimes just reloading the page will correctly display you as logged in, but you most likely need to clear the site data. This solved the issues I was having with logins.

    • Holy crap, that did it. Just to clarify, I am on firefox, but I clicked the padlock icon on the left, which had the option to clear cookies and site data. After that, I logged back in no problem. You're a life saver. Thank you so much!

      • No problem. If this ever happens with your apps, clearing cache/app data should solve it for them.
