Press Downplays Danger of Supreme Court Case That Threatens Trans Rights—Among Others
For a country that supposedly prioritizes children, America sure finds many ways to fuck with them. Letting them get shot. Letting their rights get messed with. Letting them work unsafe jobs. Letting them be abused by abusive families. Ah yeah, very caring of children this country.
Kids stop mattering after they're born, it's more like America is obsessed with the fetus but stop giving a shit right when the kid pops out and a couple years after.
If it makes you feel better, no one on the right actually cares about a fetus either. It's purely a political cudgel for them to use. As a country, we completely lack empathy.
The only reason conservatives care about children is because they're too young to voice their own opinion and so can't disagree with them, making them a perfect political tool.
Literally every "think of the children" argument is just broadcasting their own beliefs while trying to cut off any possibility of disagreement or judgment.
The only thing they care about is feeding the money machine with new drones. Everything they say and do towards that end is posturing.
Kids didn't matter before they're born either. Do you hear any conservative calling to publicly fund NICUs or even pre-natal care?

It doesn't matter what sort of mental gymnastics or word games you play to try and confuse the issue and convince useful idiots to turn against their own societies. Going after children will always be a hard red line you can not cross without severe consequence.
The question is who suffers the severe consequences. It will not the rich and powerful who are stirring up all this hatred.
We have to understand that we're witnessing persecution of minorities by a fascist state, the same thing people saw in Nazi Germany. And we need to organize to defend trans people and the other persecuted groups, if we want the outcome to be any better than it was under Nazism first time around. We all need to consider this our duty and not leave it for others to sort out.
The bastards in power haven't received any consequences for raping children, why do you think this would be a hard line for anyone?

Agreed! The government should not be legislating whether or not my kids should be getting medically necessary care, to include hormone therapy!

Because no one in power actually cares about us. Republicans actively want us dead. Democrats pretend to care, but are very willing to toss us under the bus for a quick buck. The media is owned by billionaires who overwhelmingly support fascists.
It's disheartening how many people don't really care much, but we have to work on those people. For them, it's important to keep reminding them that so-called "trans rights" are just basic human rights, and if you let them slip you're letting everyone's rights slip. If they can't care about others, maybe they can be coerced into caring about how this might come back to bite them. Too many people see fascism rising and think, "at least they're not coming for me." No one is safe under fascism. They start by victimizing whoever has the least power, and work their way outwards from there.
I've been fighting for my and others' trans identities for over 10 years. Honestly the only societal change I've seen is that with more visibility, public resentment for us has grown. I'm close to the point of throwing in the towel because it's exhausting.
it wasn't that long ago that the same people were arguing against the Equal Rights Amendment, also.
It's not going to stop with trans people either. All queer rights are under threat.
Bloody sad yo. People not in power care about you. I have no idea personally what it would feel like to just be treated as non-human, nor how anyone could ever treat groups of people as not worth existing.
If anything it's amazing it took this long to fall apart.
