I mean most of the money was going to red states and the governments there aren't exactly rational people so I'm sure the drug their feet trying to take the money without having to admit that progressive policies were why they would be less of a shithole and take full credit for progress being made.
Honestly, the very malicious part of me that wants to see those red states that were disproportionately beneficiaries of these progressive policies get all of this yanked from them under Trump.
Projects in red states /= handing money to state govts
"Despite more than $7.5 billion allocated to building electric vehicle chargers, for example, only a handful have been built. About 40 percent of big IRA projects hit delays, according to the Financial Times."
And the larger problem is that Biden was trying to go "look what I did!" when what he did was completely ineffectual.
Yeah, the legislation was passed, with fuck all to show for it. Even if Harris had been elected and the money actually did get turned into effective projects, it's still YEARS down the line, and with Trump coming in, it will likely either never happen, or if it does, he will take the credit for it.
It disappeared into thin air - as designed since it prevented the thick air.
Why is Biden getting credit for not vetoing something, when his biggest excuse for everything else is "presidents can't do legislation"?
I just don't understand giving Biden credit for everything, but zero blame for things that don't happen.
Either Biden has no role so we can't blame him, or he has control so he gets credit.
This is just false. Joe Manchin wasn't the one who "wrote it." It is a pared-down (yes, partially by Joe Manchin) version of the Build Back Better plan, which President Biden proposed. Lots of Democratic legislators in the House and Senate and their staffers actually wrote the text of the final bill.
Saying Joe Manchin wrote it is not just wrong, it's egregiously misleading.
It is possible to have a role in something without having control. And often it’s those who have a role but not control who can make or break an initiative.
Presidents have the power to put the brakes on legislation and to make suggestions. It’s up to congress to actually write it and refine it.
So Build Back Better not going thru...
That's a failure on Biden or no?
Same with decriminalization, student loan relief, taxing the wealthy, healthcare reform, requiring a speaking filibuster...
You agree that while Joe Biden couldn't get the votes, that because a president does have influence, a better president may have been able to?
Because that's the point. People said Biden would be able to be a good president because presidents just appoint people to do the work. And we all know now what happened with most of Biden's appointments.
So if a president can accomplish things, that means we shouldn't run another one in their 70s who just can't keep up anymore, right?
I'm not just ahitting on a sad geriatric man here, I'm making the point that Biden wasn't/isn't up to the task, and we can't afford another elderly moderate when the president does actually have power and can accomplish things.
Because "a role but no control" just sounds like getting all the honey and none of the bee stings.
Just swooping in to take credit, people generally dislike when upper management does that.

$3000 of it went to my new heat pump.
Nice. Honestly I'm always so surprised that heat pumps haven't caught on after all this time.
Yup, I'm looking to replace my furnace and AC unit, but finding a contractor to do it for a reasonable price (under $12k) in my area has been difficult.
One big downside to me is that the air never feels hot or cold, just slightly warmer or cooler than current room air.
Say I'm cold in my living room. Go to thermostat and click it up a degree. Hot furnace air is now swirling around my living room making it feel much warmer. One degree on the heat pump and you might not even notice it.
Over here it went straight into heat pump pricing. :(
