She did the correct thing, it was more selfish to let Tuvix live, he had no actual family or friends because he was neither Tuvok or Neelix, there's not one logical reason that he should have been left as is.
This is just a scifi trolley problem, but easier.

It's Star Trek in general. Tuvix is one of the most hotly debated things in the Trek Fandom, outside of what shows are good and what aren't. Not surprising there are going to be a bunch of memes based off of that.
