Sean 'Diddy' Combs wants April or May trial date, lawyers say in letter to judge

is it standard practice that a criminal defendant can demand a specific date for trial?
Theyve got a right to a timely process. Assuming this is part for what the judge is expecting I see no issue.
It’s standard practice for the prosecution and the defense to let the judge know how long they’ll need to prepare for the case. The more evidence the prosecution has compiled, the more time the defense can reasonably request to go through it.
