I think he's just a narcissistic attention hound who realized what Trump did: once you get popular enough, it doesn't matter what comes out of your mouth, because as long as you keep creating content, popularity is a sort of omni-fuel machine.
Rambling, nonsensical drivel? Fuel! Bipolar, contradictory viewpoints? Fuel!
I should say, accusing Maher of bipolarism is an insult to people who suffer from bipolarism.

I'm a leftie and literally could not care less about Bill Maher. Yes, Trump-worshipping is dumb. Yes, Maher is an annoying self-important windbag. I can keep both of these thoughts in my head at the same time.
I could care less.
But that would mean having to look up who this guy is.
What is a "leftie".
I don't mean to call you out, but I'm very tired of " I'm on the left, I'm a progressive, I'm a left liberal".
Be brave enough to call yourself a communist/anarchist/socialist or just call yourself a Democrat.
Those are all very different things, hence why we have different words for the different concepts.

I don't call myself a democrat because my political alignment is based on values that are distinct from the democratic party we know.
I vote for democrats because achieving progress would be impossible in a fascist state.
