Pretty much all the Greeks were aggressively gay unless I’m forgetting something, been a hot minute since I took a classics course
I don't think they were gay in the modern meaning of the word, many of the men had wives and children, but they had sex with each other for fun.
If I recall, gay greeks existed but not the same as today since they did not have husbands and it was no where near as common as homosexuality today.
I remember reading somewhere that it was still frowned upon but idk if that's true. I might be mixing up the Roman's. Take this comment with less than a grain of salt and if anyone knows otherwise I'd be interested to hear if I'm wrong.
Unlike the Thebans, Spartans kept their socks on.
In Plato's Symposium they say something along the lines of "You fuck a man for the soul, a woman for the body (Ew disgusting)"
For children, a woman; for pleasure, a young boy; but for true paradise, a melon.
The biggest media fantasy was that the Spartans weren't gay themselves.
