14 Pro Max at 88%. I’ve never had battery health degrade this quickly on previous iPhones, and I’ve had every iPhone since the 6. I don’t recall percentages on my XS and earlier, but I know that my 11 Pro Max was at 99% when I got my 12 Pro Max, and it was at 98% when I got my 13 Pro Max. My 13 Pro Max was at 93%, when I got my 14 Pro Max, and the only thing that’s been different in terms of my charging behaviors is that I’ve used MagSafe charging much more. Maybe the heat wireless charging creates is worse on batteries, but I’ve read others using MagSafe not have this problem, so I really don’t know unless Apple has tweaked the way they report battery health.

EDIT: Now I’m at 86%. It’s dropped 2% in a little over 2 weeks.

It’s not just wireless charging causing excessive heat on this gen.
I had to stop using wireless charging in my car (and subsequently everywhere) because the phone overheated. Then it started throwing overheating errors while charging plugged in.
Maybe these batteries are taking a thermal beating.
Checking in with an iPhone 14 Pro at 96% since release, which doesn’t sound bad but is markedly worse than the last several iPhones I’ve had.
- Exactly like mine. 96% since release. I’m using AOD and 99% wireless charging.
  It’s ok, never had any issues with my battery life that I ran out of energy.
  We probably have to accept, that these battery’s are performing at their very limit and have no thermal system to keep them in a specific temperature range.
  My iPhone X was about the same. In installed a new battery when it was 2.5 years old and I used it for 5 years. I will probably do the same with my 14 Pro.

I have my iphone 13 from 2021 sitting at 90%. You got screwed hard man. Sorry.

I bought a 14 Pro in January, still 100%.

My only complaint, coming from a long time Android user (the 14 Pro is my first iOS device), is that I feel like the battery drains faster than my previous phones. Maybe it's just me...

I apologize if you are already aware of this, but if you go into Settings Battery, then look at the 24hr graph, you can tap anywhere on the graph where the battery drain is strong to see which apps are eating it up the most. From there you can investigate that app’s settings to see if there are any features you don’t need and can disable. Things like always on location services and background app refresh.
(I’m on a 12mini, which might have the worst battery life of any iPhone in recent years.)
- Yes, I know about that. The problem is that, while commuting by train to go to the office, I use the phone a little bit too much (plus, there's a part of the rail line where there isn't any signal and apparently this too drains the battery). I just feel like my old OnePlus Nord or even my Pixel 3a had a better battery life under these conditions, but then again, it's two different systems with different apps. For example: I used Boost for Reddit on my Android, I used Apollo on this iPhone. Probably the latter drained more battery than the other. I just don't remember coming home from work with 25% of battery left.

My iPhone 14 Pro is hovering around 95%, so only a five percent reduction in 10-11 months. This seems perfectly acceptable to me, but maybe I’m an outlier.

I’m one of those monsters that upgrades every year. Have for many generations now. My 14 pro is at 95%. This is the first time I’ve had a phone go below 100% in years. I was honestly thinking of not upgrading to the 15 but the battery has been noticeably worse.

14 Pro Max, 93% - 8 months old

The industry standard is 80% of the original battery capacity after 800 charges.

My phone is still 100%, received on launch day.. my old iPhone 13 Pro (launch day previous year) that my daughter uses is 96%

I think the problem is poor wireless chargers not aligned perfectly to the coil. I have only ever used a MagSafe and never experienced the issue with battery.

I have just checked other phones in the house that either use MagSafe or cable and they are all good

LPT: Create an automation in Shortcuts that is triggered by LowBatteryMode being switched off --> Switch LowBatteryMode on.

It will keep your phone in permanent low battery mode.

i stay on low power mode and don't charge at night and I'm at 100% still for my launch day 14 PM

In my experience it never got amazing battery life, and I'm also lower in battery health than I was on my 12 Pro one year in.

Damn decided to check my 13P and it's already at 84%. Wonder if I need to stop using the fast charger I've had since the 11P

For an anecdotal reference, my 12Pro from 2020’s battery is at 88%.

I got mine on release day and I'm currently at 93% it does seem a bit much.

Got my 14 pro max a few weeks after release. Idk how but I'm at 89%
I’m at the exact same percentage. Spent a month in a hot area, jumped to iOS 17 developer beta from the start. But not a heavy user, I charge from 40-80%

I got mine on release day and I’m at 98% and I don’t ever take my battery or it’s life into consideration.

I almost exclusively charge via Qi or MagSafe, I leave it on the charger for long periods of time, and I alternate between saying between 90-100% all day and occasionally running it down to 10-20% 1-2 times a week.

Obviously I could be an outlier but finding a handful of people online claiming something is a terrible basis for an article like this.

My now 3 years old iPhone 12 Pro Max is at 85%

I wouldn’t worry that much about battery health, is perfectly normal that batteries degrade over time

That’s pretty bad. My 12 Pro that I got shortly after the release is at 82%. I know the aging isn’t linear, but at 1035 cycles I’d say that’s pretty good…

Also 12 pro from November 2020, currently at 88% after around 615 cycles. Although saw rapid drop off initially, has been stuck at around 88% for around a year.
My wife’s regular iPhone 12 also from November 2020, is at 84% after 800 cycles.

My iPhone XS from 2018 is still at 80% battery health.

XS Max with 79% here. It was hovering at around 85-80% for quite some time until falling under the 80% barrier some month ago.
Damn, for real? Is this with the original battery or the replacement one they were giving out due to the class action lawsuit (throttling by iOS?)?
- Original battery. Mix of wired and wireless charging. Moderate use 🤷‍♂️
  My phone before this one was an iPhone 4S from which I also got >5yrs of use.

I remember back when I had a iPhone 6 I managed to wreck the battery in 1.5-2 years.

I used to play way to much world to tanks and ended up charging my phone twice a day 😂.

As this was before apple had battery health my phone would spontaneously shut down at the time.

Although to apples credit this was far from normal use

My release day 13 Pro is somehow still at 100%.

I'm at 91% after a year. I work it hard tho, draining and charging twice a day, lots of tethering and heat. I have no issue with it.

After “upgrading” from the 13 I immediately had worse battery life, not sure if I was the only one, but was disappointed.

Launch day device at 98%. I don’t baby this thing’s battery, but I am more careful than most.

Release day 14 Pro at 89% here. Oof. I hadn’t looked at that in a long while but had noticed a number of times that my battery was surprisingly low.

Pretty heavy use, no wireless charging usually leave it plugged in over night.

94% for me for the 14 pro. Not great. That’s heavy use though. It gets gps usage 5 to 7hrs a day pretty much every day because of my job.

Had it since day 1.

Downloaded CoconutBattery (mentioned in TFA) and confirmed I barely leave home. Had my M1 MBP since release and it's at 49 charge cycles. My iPhone 14 Pro was also new at release and is at only 243 charge cycles. Luckily, my battery in that device is at 98%, so I'm doing ok.

Does Apple show your usage? I find that most people's definition of "heavy" is not as heavy as they think.
Also, it's a logical fallacy for one person to make up for others. It also may have nothing to do with usage. Using a battery is one thing but battery life is dependent on charge, the speed of charge, and how hot the battery cells get as well as hell well they handle that heat during expansion.
