I haven't been able to afford the last two generations... I only know a few people who have a PS4 and I don't know anyone with a PS5
What country do you live in, if you don't mind me asking? One of those two consoles is just about ubiquitous among people who play video games in the US.
Almost everyone I know who had a PS4, now has a PS5. One guy even got one after only doing Nintendo prior.

If they did built-in backward compatibility I would be more likely to buy. My last PS console was a fat PS3 that would still play my PS2 games.
The PS5 is backwards compatible with PS4 games.
