Everyone should stop using proprietery software and only turn to them if there isn't an open source alternative. and never pay for proprietery software your payment as data is enough.

And to show your support donate to devs who build open source software and if you want a propraitery software just pirate it.

One of the examples is when people use close sourced lemmy apps more while paying them to remove ads while there are devs making open sourced ad free apps for free i know you may find the other apps more nice or conveniant but guess what if more people support and use their app the devs will work on it faster and gain more contributors and nothing right in life isn't easy anyway.

There are a lot of good open source apps maintained by devs who is clearly doing it for the love of community and you are not strapped for options and there is some app that fits everyone . And remember those devs are doing this solely out of their kindness and love for community and we should return it as much as we can . Most of the times the open source , community drven versions are far better . These are just my thoughts and only some may agree and remember i am not posting these as facts just an opinion.

You guys may think this is a popular opinion around here but sync for lemmy community alone has more subscribers than jerboa , voyager , and eternity combined and those are very nice apps ( which users can choose from because it caters to different tastes and there are other open source ones too )and from the subscriber count in community we can kinda calculate that is the case of userbase for apps too i also saw a chart about userbase count but i can't find it so i am using this example which i think is fair.

Probably not that unpopular around here
- We tend to attribute value to what we have to pay for, and the more we have to pay the more "valuable" our perception of the product is.
  What is received for free tends to be considered "valueless".
  
  I don't know, I use Lemmy for mostly free (I try to support my instances from time to time), it definitely has value.
  I also don't have to pay to see my friends, still quite valuable to me.
- You would be suprised just look at the amount of people sync for lemmy community have 3 open source lemmy apps like jerboa , voyager and eternity combined doesn't have that much users. And i guess we can kinda also calculate the userbase from that statics
  
  Sync had a large userbase on Reddit, it makes sense that people would keep using what they enjoy.
  It's actually surprising and nice to see how popular Jerboa, Voyager, Thunder, Eternity (Summit is also FOSS I think?) became as they had no previous userbase.

- No maybe you should be asking that to yourself ? Why do you assume i want to have unpopular opinion ? Are you always this paranoid ? Why do you feel the need to respond in an aggressive way to someone's opinion ? Do yoi want to be validated ? Is your opinion the exact opposite of mine that you think you have to try to insult someone ? Or do you have a close sourced apo that shows ads down people's throat you wanna keep alive ? Did you always wanna be a programmer but couldn't because of your limited braincell so now you hate all devs ? Frankly i am fascinated what goes on through that little head of yours .

Using all open source software as a graphic designer is very doable but I'd be putting myself at a disadvantage compared to those paying for the latest Adobe.
I'm a big fan of open source software and use it as often as possible and I too would love to see open source be more widely used, but I also don't have a problem with people making a living or having a business selling software for a profit. If you have a talent like creating software and you want to use that talent to make open source software that's great, but if you want to use your talents making software for money I think that's fine as well.
Oh man, I completely disagree about payment, though. I'd rather give it in my money than my data.

proud user of jerboa and eternity, they have their issues of course, but nothing beats the dopamine rush of getting a bugfix for something you reported!!!
Edit: In an attempt to make a joke, I exaggerated the impact of issues with jerboa/eternity, I decided to rephrase. I love the apps and the people creating them, their efforts is highly appreciated and I dream one day that such effort would economically viable.
- Eternity's dev has been doing a very good work for a single person
  
  It's also an open source program for lemmy. We've got a pretty tight knit community as a whole and condensing that down to coders, people with free time, people who want to make an app, and people who want to spend their free time making an open source app.. It gets really narrow.
  Anything we have is a godsend because we'd be using browsers on our phone otherwise.

- We should ban sale of healthcare data. We should ban insurance companies from determining if a medical procedure is required or not. We should ban insurance companies from asking for "co-pay". Dafaq is the premium for then?
