It's a bullshit meaningless index. Britain is corrupt of course but so are all the western European nations despite what they claim.

The idea of corruption is quiet complex. There are even economists that argue, that slight corruption leads to a more efficient economy, due to minimizing beaucracy.
Nevertheless, corruption can lead to people loosing faith into their government and therefore its inability to fulfill its role in society.
Therefore, this index measures 'perceived corruption' and not 'level of corruption', being closer to an index measuring the trust in the state. Makes me wonder what else there is which hasn't been discovered and reported.
Honestly, it's just such a deluge there will be cases that people just don't have time to investigate.
One of the reasons I cancelled my Private Eye membership was it just made me miserable reading about all the grifting, and the level of "No, I'm not doing anything" that anyone trying to combat it had to constantly fight through.
Probably not that much, considering how flagrant they seem to be these days.
