0 Air bases (including airplane carriers).
0 confirmed WMDs with no investment whatsoever in nuclear weaponry.
Did not even care about the space race: 0 satellites in orbit, 0 successful launches.
Is it really any surprise that they fell?
I'm sure there was one on Crete at some point.
